The SkyPod™ is a monopod that extends to 10 ft. into the air allowing you to obtain shots above the rest.
NOTE: UPS and FED-X
consider the Skypod an "oversize" box because of the length. The
SkyPod is generally shipped in a separate box from any other
item you are ordering, unless we can fit it in the box with the
SkyPod.
We ran into a problem
shooting one day, we needed to get a shot above a crowd. After
standing there holding the video camera over our head and with
our arm getting tired, (how many times have you done that?) and
getting shaky video, we decided there had to be a better way. As
first we thought of a tripod platform, but that was too heavy
and bulky. A monopod's is fine for portability, but they usually
only have a height of 4 to 5 ft.
So that gave us the idea for the SkyPod™ video camera support.
It offers the portability of a mono pod, yet with our innovative
new design, it extends to 10ft allow you to get shots above
everyone else. In addition, the new shot angles you'll be able
to shoot at will set your video productions apart. The SkyPod™
extends to just over 10ft and it collapses to 4ft for
portability.
We designed the SkyPod using heavy gauge aircraft aluminum. This
allows it to be strong and sturdy while keeping it lightweight.
We used heavy duty locking collars to keep the poles from
sliding when you have your camera on top. The SkyPod has a
tripod head on the top, along with tripod arm. When holding the
tripod arm and the SkyPod as shown in the picture on the left,
you will obtain a steadier shots over a standard monopod.
The SkyPod™ is ideal for any videographer or DV filmmaker. It's
great for weddings and sporting events.
The SkyPod™ is recommended for today's smaller cameras weighting
up to 7 pounds. We don't recommend it being used with full size
cameras.

Customer Comments
"Thanks much! I would use still digital cameras such as the Sony
R1 because of its live viewfinder and take the video out from it
just as with a video camera. I can see this benefiting wedding
and event photographers a lot but primarily, I do a lot of
architectural, malls, restaurants, and general commercial
shoots. I found you via a search for Jibs, but for photos, this
Skypod is just perfect and very affordable. Digital photography
has opened up a lot of new ways to approach taking pictures and
I feel your product will be a great tool in the bag of tricks
for photographers. Those great overhead views of malls, or
guests on a dance floor, or whatever, are very dramatic and I
doubt the average photographers even knows about your product or
how it might be used. Best wishes for the new year. I am just
glad I won't have to carry my ladder around anymore."
Robert (steve) Crecelius
"After using my SkyPod this past weekend, I was blown away the
shots I got. I really like having the ability to get a high
angle shot without having to haul a ladder around. You guys have
some of the best equipment around, very unique, very useful."
Kenny White, Austin, TX.
"I am a volunteer fireman in a small town in Northwest
Pennsylvania. For the protection of our firemen, we have mounted
a small camera on the SkyPod with cables running down to a small
monitor. This allow us to look into attics, second floor
windows, up on flat roof's and generally look into places
without having to put any of the guys in harms way. We got this
idea after seeing your photos of the Miami-Dade police
department using it. This really should be standard equipment in
every fire department." Roger Zimmerman, Erie, PA.
"This SkyPod is the coolest. I shoot B-Roll with a PD-150 for
several news outlets. When working in the field, there were so
many times I've needed to get a higher angle shot over a crowd
of reports and videographers. Since I've been using the SkyPod,
I haven't had that problem anymore. I have I am asked almost
daily, where I got it and I have been passing your name on to
everyone that asks. About a week ago, I was covering a news
story and there was another guy standing there with the SkyPod.
After the news briefing I asked him how he like his, he replied
'I love it. It's the best piece of gear I own'. You know what I
have to agree with him." Chris Winn, Boulder, CO.
"Just dropping you an email with my comments about your SkyPod.
Very Cool. I shoot sporting events with a VX2000. When working
on the side lines, it seems you always end up with people
walking in front of you or you have hold the camera over your
head to get a clear shot. When I saw the SkyPod, I thought what
a great idea. I ordered it and used it few days latter. All I
can say is, it's great! I extended up about 8 ft, tilted the LCD
screen on the camera down so I could see it, then started the
camera rolling. It was great, I was able to move quickly and
easily, and never lost a shot because of the people around me.
It was great not having to hold the camera up in the air and
keep it steady. I have to tell you, this has to be one of the
best products I've ever bought. There were two other
videographers on the sidelines with me and they were impressed
with the SkyPod too. Both of them wanted to know where they
could order one, so I gave them your phone number. Once again,
thanks." Charles Popel, email.
"My husband and I our wedding videographers. When I saw the
SkyPod in the magazine, I showed it to my husband, but he didn't
think we needed it. (Men!) So anyhow, I decided to order one and
try it out during a wedding reception. We always use two cameras
during the service and reception. I put my Canon GL-2 on top of
the SkyPod and raised to about 7ft. during the reception. When
we started editing the footage, we were both amazed at the
footage because of the camera angle being over everyone heads.
The footage looked great. As an example, during the cake cutting
ceremony, I leaned the SkyPod forward slightly to shoot down on
them from a high angle. The shot was great! My husband was
excited about the shot possibilities, that wanted to try it out
during the ceremony at our next wedding. He stood at the rear of
the church with it extended to the full 10ft. (There was no
balcony to shoot from.) The shot was incredible. My husband
called you early today and ordered another SkyPod. We are both
very pleased with it." Gloria & Henry Ramsey
"Who ever thought of the SkyPod should get an award! This thing
is great. It has allowed me to obtain some great new shot angles
I never thought I could get. I just finish a video for a
corporate client where I used the SkyPod on several overhead
type shots. The client was blown away by the shots because of
the high angle I was able to obtain. Great piece of equipment, I
only wish I had it sooner." Dennis Rowan, Phoenix, AZ
"When I first saw the SkyPod I didn't think much about it, after
all it's no big deal to just hold the camera over your head.
However, after I saw footage shot with it when it was extended
several feet into the air, I had to have one for two reasons.
First, the footage was rock steady. Second, I can't reach as
high as the SkyPod can. After using it for a few days, I've
become addicted to it. Forget handholding the camera anymore,
even at eye level. I just adjust the SkyPod what ever height I
need and the shot is steady. I love it" SGT Tanner, US Army
